Version 1.0 · Last updated: 10 August 2026
This is the page promised by clause 3.6 of our Terms of Service and by section 2 of our Safety Guidelines. Both of those documents say the checks we carry out are limited to the ones described here. That is meant literally: if a check is not on this page, we do not do it.
We would rather tell you this plainly than let you assume otherwise.
The confirmed and complete list of the checks we carry out on a member, in the form required by clause 3.6 of the Terms, is: [To be completed — confirmed list of the checks carried out on a member, as required by Terms clause 3.6]
Until that list is signed off and published here, this is what is true today, and it is deliberately a short list rather than a long one.
| What | What it actually establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| A working payment card, held for your Membership | That there is a real card, in someone’s name, at a real billing address, that a bank has approved. Our payment provider runs its own fraud checks on it. It makes a throwaway account meaningfully harder to create, and it means a removed account cannot quietly come back for free. | Anything about the person’s character, history or intentions. A card is a friction, not a safeguard. |
| The declarations you make when you join | That every member has been asked, and has confirmed, the things set out in clause 3.4 of the Terms — that she is 18 or over, that she is acting as a consumer, that her information is accurate, that she is not subject to a court order, licence condition or notification requirement restricting her contact with other people or her attendance at public places, and that she has not previously been removed from Chérie. | That any of it is true. This is a declaration, not a check. It matters because it makes a false statement a breach of the Terms we can act on, not because it proves anything. |
| What members tell us about each other | Every report is read by a person, within 24 hours. We check in after every Experience and we read the replies. This is the check that has actually caught things. | Anything before the first report. It is reactive by nature: it works after something has happened, not before. |
Most of what we actually control is the setting rather than the guest list, and that is where we have put the effort.
Read the Safety Guidelines before your first Experience. They are practical rather than legal, and the single most useful thing on them takes one text message: tell one person where you are going, who with, and roughly when you expect to be home.
And the line that matters more than any check on this page: you can leave any Experience, at any moment, without a reason and without telling anyone. It will never count against you and it will never affect your Membership.
Our Community Guidelines set out what we expect of each other, and what happens when someone falls short of it.
If we add a check, or stop doing one, we will change this page, and clause 3.6 of the Terms points at this page precisely so that the two can never say different things. Previous versions are at cherie.social/legal/archive.
